Together, we hope to complete the race in less than 2:30:00.

Vacation Noodle Soup for the soul!
The past few years, Tara and I have taken a nice late spring vacation. Disney this year, was actually more congested than in years past. There were very long lines for the good rides: Pirates, Soaring California, Splash Mountain, Test Track, Mission Space, Rockin Roller Coaster, and Tower of Terror. However, the trip was a ton of fun! We went down with Kevin, Vicki, Erick and Jordan, our friends and God-Kids. We all enjoyed our time together and have all come back with a nice tan!

Another push for Boston
As most of our friends and family know, we were unsuccessful with our Boston attempt when we ran the Kentucky Derby Marathon at the end of April. However, in so many ways it was more successful of a run than we thought! A new and more focused Tara has emerged from those weekends and now she is more confidant in what needs to be done. The weekend following the race, we had a small gathering of friends to encourage Tara in her One Step Closer to Boston goal. During the celebration Jeff Galloway, Taras trainer, came and gave encouragement. Jeff has set the race for Taras next attempt at qualifying for Boston, Steamtown Marathon. Steamtown is a very small race filled with many spectators! From what our research has shown, we are going to be running downhill 75% of the race. This makes this a perfect opportunity for Alicia to run her first marathon. The race is in Northern Pennsylvania and in early October. Blake, who said, I am not running another marathon until 2008 or 2009, after running the Disney Marathon in January, is now training as well to run this marathon with Alicia and Tara. Though we are all running this race, Tara will be at the front of the pack, letting Alicia and Blake run together. Look for more details on this race and many others on Taras new website,

Kentucky Hills keep Boston out of reach...
For many months Tara has been working on her dream, Qualifying for the Boston Marathon. Last Saturday in April, she left for Louisville in hopes of finishing a marathon in less than 3 hours 45 minutes and 59 seconds. The race started with very comfortable temperatures, in the mid 50s. The course began very smooth. Then came miles 3 - 6. They gave us a nice park to run through and they gave us some HILLS! With every up, there was a nice down hill run. For miles 6 - 14 a nice smooth run including a jog into the infield of Church Hill Downs! After mile 14, Tara began her climb! Mile 14 and 15 were pretty much up and down. She climber more than 80 feet at times. The down hill at 16 lead her to a nother climb around the 18 mile marker. Crossing the Ohio river had another 40 - 50 foot climb on each side of the bridge. All in all the race was quite unique. We both did a great job. Tara finished her Marathon, 26.2 miles in 4:02. Blake finished his Half Marathon, 13.1 miles in 2:12 BOTH HAD PERSONAL RECORDS Thank you all for your love, thoughts, and prayers. This was a fun race but not one we will do anytime soon.

Preparing for the big race
Not many people understand what all it takes to complete a marathon or even a simple race like a 5k. From start to finish, you are battling within you mind what your time will be, your pace, did you have enough water, did you have too much water, did you sleep well enough to have the best overall race you have ever ran? Many of these questions we face in our everyday life with our careers, family and friends. From the simplest race to the most enduring, there is a strategy we take to focus our mind and to ensure we are doing the best we can do. Our strategy is to understand that it is not about how I compare to others, but how I compare to what I have trained for. For many years Tara has been training for this moment. We have hired a professional to help guide, motivate, and discipline the skills Tara has developed over the years. Running a distance of 26.2 miles is not something one goes out and completes without training. From the foods she eats to the hours of sleep, every moment counts from day one to the end of the marathon and through the end of training 2 weeks after the marathon. We want to encourage you to live each moment as you continue to run your race and focus on the things which will make you the very best

Placing for the first time
April 14, Team Tara set their eyes on another great race, the Hoya and the Hare. This 3.1 mile course seems easy when you drive it, but when you are on foot the course is one to work out your glutes! On this race, Alicia brought her two children Reid and Liam. Both did an amazing job in their first ever 5k road race. They finished 2nd and 3rd in their division with a time of 40:16 and 40:41. They are both amazing kids and did a great job helping, for the most part, mom with her run. Tara placed 2nd in her division with a 22:23 time. For the first time ever, I too placed. I completed the race with a 26:50 and a 3rd place in my age group. Tara and I have placed our awards on our wall of fame. We know Reid and Liam too are doing the same!

Team Tara PRs Again!
Another Saturday and another race. But the team continues to ride a wave of personal bests! Alicia C. ran her fastest time ever of 32:30 and finishing 3rd in her age group! AMAZING RESULTS! Blake S. ran an amazing 24:34 for his fastest 5k ever, while destroying his old time for this same race by more than 8 minutes! Tara lead the pack, and most runners, as she finished with her fastest 5k ever, with a 21:22 time. She was first female overall and a top 10 finish for the race. HOW DO THEY DO IT Blake had a fellow runner ask how he did the race, as Blake was showing his Jeff Galloway training? Blake did his run by running x minutes and walking 10 - 15 seconds. You just find your grove and go, exclaims Blake. All in all the team is doing an amazing job. We are working on posting times, how toos, and tips for you to run and enjoy being outdoors.

Hannah and Daisy Show well in Chattanooga
On Saturday, March 17, Daisy and Hannah did their first dog show. Tara who is quite familiar with the ring gave Blake pointers on the do's and don'ts while in the ring. Tara and Hannah showed a wonderful show. She was third to enter the ring, and first in our class. Hannah executed her Heeling perfectly and her figure eights were magnificant. Then came time for the recall. Hannah was perfect! Blake entered in group B, as there were 17 dogs showing. He was fifth to enter the second class. He and Daisy entered the ring, both for the first time. Blake tried to appear confident and smooth, but forgot to breathe! Through the first exercise, the Heeling, they both did well. Then for the figure eights. The posts were kids! Daisy is scared to death of kids! As they approached the kids, Blake forgot to breathe again. They began their figure eight and as they rounded the first left turn, all was good. Daisy did not realize they were kids until after the exercise was finished. Then Daisy became a little more relaxed, as did Blake. Overall Daisy and Blake did a great job for their first time in the ring. Leah and Libby too showed and did a great job. Overall, Tara was second in the entire class with a 191.5 and recieved a second place ribbon. Leah and Libby did great with a 186.5. Blake and Daisy did great with their finishing score of 182.5. The maximum score one can achieve is 200. Not bad for a 90 minute drive! Though this performance does not count towards anything, it does show that Hannah and Daisy as well as their cousin Libby are ready to score higher than the 170 points needed and begin winning the three required legs to obtain their CD title.

Team Tara Heats Up
Team Tara has been showing great success in this cooler weather. Alicia, a Team Tara member, has been doing an amazing job with her races. Alicia recently ran a 10k, 6.2 miles, and completed it in about 75 minutes! This is a great time considering her last 10k was almost 7 years ago. Team Tara runners all have done well in their races. The key to the success of the team, is following the guidelines set by Jeff Galloway. The team continues to run, train, and seek new races throughout the spring and fall seasons.

2007 has started out with a bang for us! We both have completed a Marathon and a 5k already this year. What is even more amazing is that we are setting personal records each time we race. This means running faster than any of our previous races. On Saturday, January 27, 2007, we ran the Polar Bear Run with our friends Bill and Alicia. WE ALL crossed with Personal Records! Tara: 22:40 time | 7:15 Pace Blake: 28:30 time | 9:13 Pace Bill: 33:00 time | 10:45 Pace Alicia: 36:16 time | 11:45 Pace GREAT JOB! Tara was unable to qualify for the Boston Marathon this weekend. However, she did AMAZING!!! She finished with a 4:05 Marathon time. Meaning, she completed the marathon in 4 hours and 5 minutes, a pace of 9 minutes and 22 seconds per mile. She also was 1434 overall, 354 with her gender and 64th within her age group!!! There were more than 16,000 runners in the race, of which less than 11,000 completed the race.
